For Lovvom, she loves critters!

Did any of my Texan friends hear about this?

This picture was taken by a KTBS helicopter flying over Lake Conroe ! (For those of you who are not local, Lake Conroe is about 50 miles north of Houston )

That has to be a HUGE gator to have a whole deer in its mouth! Are you ready to go skiing on Lake Conroe ?! If you ski at the west end of the lake -- try not to fall. Picture below:This alligator was found between Athens and Palestine , Texas near a house. Game wardens were forced to shoot the alligator- guess he wouldn't cooperate... Anita and Charlie Rogers could hear the bellowing in the night. Their neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in the waterway that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations. "I didn't believe it," Charles Rogers said. Friday they realized the stories were, if anything, understated.

Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens had to shoot the beast. Joe Goff, 6'5" tall, a game warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, walks past a 23-foot, 1-inch alligator that he shot and killed in their back yard.

I think that the Texas Game and Wildlife wardens made a huge mistake when they shot this
beast. With a little planning they easily could have transplanted it to the Rio Grande River. Now that should have cut down on the illegal migration just a tad!!

OH, My! Thanks for thinking of me!:o) That is one huge animal and yes they should have put him patrolling our boarders...how funny! I can't imagine the size even though I can clearly see it from the picture! It did make my stomach turn to hear that it suffered while being shot though! Poor guy! I don't like gators but I hate that he suffered. :o(

I can hear all the "environmentalists" now:...
The least they could have done was make alligator tail nibbles and processed the hide for belts, shoes and purses! Let's not forget earrings! And, lest we forget the Sunshine State and their rep...how about those gaping mouths of alligators sold at every tourist trap and flea market in the state (don't forget the shiny stuff that makes them less intimidating, but prettier to look at and display!!)

That was one big deer, too!! Gator must have been real hungry to tackle that. Let's see FISH vs. Deer...hmmmm!

Good thing they had a gun!

Rita says it best!
The Border Patrol could not use these creatures because some how or another...the Illegals would sue us for harming them in an illegal entry, and many would go to jail.
Read what I wrote about Border Agents Compean and Ramos.
Ah, I feel another post...I must return to penofjen and see what occurs;)

Wow...those are some pretty awesome stories. And whoever said that dinosaurs are dead and gone. I think that 23 footer comes pretty close to a small dinosaur don't ya think? I'm glad I live inland and not near any water. Not to mention I think the interstate that runs next to my house should ward off any of those beasts.

My brother in-law is a cop in Athens Texas, he and his family live real close to where that gator was found. I'll have to give them a call and see if he helped with it.

I sent this picture to one of my cousins who lives in Palestine...she doesn't know yet that it was found there and I'm on my way to emailing her the good news! It is too bad they had to kill the thing! Just think of the money they could have gotten from the public who would pay to come see it in a zoo park!

Pam: I love your idea of putting that gator in the Rio Grande. It would be cheaper than a fence or border guards.

We should be ashamed of ourselves for even thinking of that. LOL

I know exactly where that is! We just moved from that area! Gulp. That is one big gator! Yikes!

Yowzer - that's one big reptile! When I was growing up our youth group used to go tubing down the Weeki Wachee River (Florida). It always creeped me out a bit ~ wondering what was down there that could get me - lol!
