Rose & My Early Birthday Surprise!

I love Cracker Barrell Restuarants! When I need comfort food, to Cracker Barrell I go! Well, I thought I would check my email one last time before going to bed Thursday night. I was so thrilled to see an email awaiting me in my inbox! YEA! It was from my friend Rose Hand. What a sweetie! This woman has a heart of gold. I tell you---she would give you the shirt right off her back. I have known her for about 10 years now. We have been through many ups and downs together. One thing Rose and I can do real well together is CRY!!! She is so tender-hearted and concerned for others. The reason Rose emailed me was to invite me to breakfast at Cracker Barrell the next morning. She was on vacation this week, so her schedule was more flexible. She also thought it was my birthday this week! So I shot off an email right back at her. YES of course I was up for breakfast with a friend whom I haven't seen in about 2 and a half months! So what if the birthday celebration was a week early. It was glorious to feel so loved! So early Friday morning, Rose called and plans were made. She would be here within the hour. Shane and I got dressed and did a few of our 'home blessing' activities. (We straightened up the house!) Rose arrived to pick us up and off we went. We had a super morning of fellowship and making up for lost time! We were presented with the opportunity to encourage our server a little bit about child training, then we shopped a wee little bit. What? You know you can't go to Cracker Barrell without including a little bit of shopping! What a blessed morning! Back at my house, we sat in my driveway and chatted for another hour or so! Yep-that's the kind of friend Rose is. She is so easy to talk to. We love discussing our kids and voicing doubts to one another about our parenting skills. We enjoy sharing how the Lord is working in our lives. But in the long run, you know what? We seem to motivate one another. Yes, I leave my visits with her realizing we have experienced one of my favorite scriptures! Proverbs 27:17 says,"Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." Rose, let me say especially to you, thanks for sharpening my countenance yesterday! I had a blessed, wonderful Friday and a wonderful early birthday surprise! Thank you for allowing God to use you!
