7 Random Things About Me!

I was tagged by Baptist Girl to list 7 random things about me. Let's see if I have any dignity left when this is finished! Okay, here goes!

1. I love the mountains. Maybe it stems from being born in Iaeger, West Virginia, in the midst of some beautiful mountains. I love the mountain music and sweet ramblings of a country creek. I ADORE the crisp evenings, even in early summer, and the chirping of the crickets at dusk. (Do crickets chirp?) Remember this John Denver song from the 70's: "Take me home, Country roads, To the place, I belong, West Virginia, Mountain Mama, Take me home, Country roads!"

2. I like to sit in my garden bathtub and let the shower run down over me!

3. I can't sleep at night until all closet doors are completely shut, the laundry room door is shut, and my hubby's bath towel is folded, hung and straightened to match mine.

4. I don't sleep like normal people! I know poor Jen has been wondering about my strange hours on the computer! *grins* I may go to bed at 11 p.m. but I'm up at 2 or 3 a.m. for a few hours. After awhile, oh maybe an hour or two, I'll return to bed and sleep a few more hours before starting my day. I do have better sleep patterns when I am not experiencing much pain or a flare up with Rheumatoid Arthritis, but you know the body gets set in a pattern and it's hard to break! When I go through a bad flare up with RA, it ruins all patterns of sleep. I was diagnosed with RA 17 years ago at the age of 29. Did I clear that sleep thing up for ya' Jen?

5. I LOVE AND ADORE children! I graduated early from high school in Traveler's Rest, South Carolina. I didn't go straight to college but we moved to Florida and I went to work with children right away in Immokalee, Florida. Another one of my first real jobs was working in Miss Martha's day care in Arcadia, Fl. I have always had children in my life. I started babysitting at 11 and earned enough money that summer to buy my own bike and school clothes! I've worked as cashier and then customer service manager in a department store chain, I've completed some courses toward a teaching degree, I've taken secretarial courses and have worked as church secretary in a couple of churches, I ran an "in home" day care for 5 years before becoming disabled, but mostly I have worked with children in Christian school settings.

6. I still don't have my teaching degree! But I have been considering returning to school to finish that up. I'm so very close to completing the requirements, so why don't I? Pray with me about that, would you please? I am still homeschooling Shane, and then there is my health and fatigue to consider. I haven't even told my hubby this yet! I better get on that right away! LOL

7. I feel things very deeply, which can be both good and bad! I hurt for others and want to fix the world. Prayer is my best weapon, I know, but there are times I am so desperate to right a wrong, that it hurts me physically. I get sick to my stomach when I hear or see a child being mistreated in the store or at church. YES, even at churches, I have witnessed little ones and teens alike being spoken to as if they are nothing more than a dumb animal or a burden.

Now I'm supposed to invite anyone who would like to do this to just let me know!

Well there you have it! God bless!

Anyhow, I hope you have a wonderful weekend ~~ and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

This was so fun to learn more about you!
Your pictures are so beautiful! I can see Rita's face in there somewhere. Are you guys sisters? hehe
Your tender heart is a gift from God. I totally understand the feelings of physically taking on the burdens of the world. People tell me to just let it go. Sometimes that is easier said than done. If everyone just let it go who would be the encourager or who would hold the key to compassion?
You are an awesome woman. I think there were some godly people behind you who trained you well. Can't wait to learn more down the road.
Happy Mother's day to a new friend.

In answer to a previous question. No, my daughter does not call her hubby "hot tomalie" :) He used to call her his "Chula" She calls him "Bean" His name is Beto. It was changed by us to Beano, hehe, and then just Bean. His grandmother is still confused about this.

It was nice to learn more about you. I love that John Denver song. One of my best friends dad used to sing that to us (while playing his guitar) when we were little.

Dear Pam,
Whar a beauful lady, inside and out!I encourage you to go back to school. I know of ladies that went back when they turned 50-60. After daycaring myself for so many years, I think I would love to go back in a few years. I love 2-4 years olds, their minds are so sharp and ready to learn.

My husband and I plan to travel through the USA when we retire. We just love your country and even though George Bush has made some mistakes we like him too. He just seems genuine! There sure is no perfect president or Prime Minister, and Mr. Bush has gone through a lot. I get so upset when I hear him being bashed so much.

I love John Denver, my favorite song is Annie and Calypso.

I'm sorry to hear of the pain you suffer and the lack of sleep you have. It sure is not easy to have
RA, my brother has it, he knows when it's about to rain.

Thank you for sharing, it was so great to get to know you better. You sound like a dear kind soul!

How I enjoyed learning much more about my friend Pam. Just excellent. When you write I feel like I am right there with you face to face and enjoying your company. Wouldn’t that be great?

I will be praying about your retuning to school. With so many things offered online now, do you think you might be able to finish that way?

My mom is the same way with her sleeping habits due to her pain too. Many nights she is up wide awake at 3 or 4 in the morning, so I can certainly understand why it is difficult for you.

Have a great Mother’s Day my friend. Haven’t been blogging a lot this week, so I need to get caught up on some of your posts.

Oh and as usual your pictures are beautiful. You are one that looks great in any color. Just beautiful

Love you, Lyndy

I loved learning these things about you!! The photo of you in red is gorgeous!! We have a lot in common... I have worked a lot of retail, but always enjoyed my jobs with children the best. I' "this" close to a nursing degree, but I don't know when I'll finish. And I feel sick when I see children mistreated, too. I always say I learned how NOT to be a mom when I worked at this one store as a teen... And I love John Denver, too. We used to listen to this one Greatest Hits tape when we'd take vacations in Yosemite when I was a child, so all his music brings back the happiest memories for me. My brothers and I would get so excited and sing along when "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" came on. We were city kids!! :-)

Happy Mother's Day, Pam!!!

Pam you are so wonderful!. I don't not have RA yet keep the crazy lack of sleep hours due to being married to a cop for so long, hours were whatever and I feel compelled to be awake whenever he had to leave for work!
I love the neat things that I have read about you, and think that you are an amazing person!
I pray that you have many great days, because I am a better person after visiting your blog!
Take care!
