Prayers Answered!

Thank you , thank you, thank you all for your prayers concerning my dad and his latest hospitalization. We were a little concerned yesterday due to the fact he couldn't get his food down. Today, however, he did his morning walking routine and ate well. Praise the Lord! I believe the reason for my emotional day yesterday was due to learning that Dad, as recently as last week before his hospitalization, had written out his funeral wishes and made my brother aware of the envelope they are in. That just brought it home to me that dad is getting things ready. I realize it could be 20 years ormore before he goes. I could even pass on before him, but knowing your daddy is getting his "ducks in a row" to make decision making easier for the family is an emotional thing.

I'm realizing that as he ages, I find myself a little more concerned with each of his illnesses. Its really a selfish thing I know. He is in God's hands and is ready for heaven. I on the other hand, don't want to think about being left here without him around. I guess it's just another adaptation to a new season in our lives. For now, I'm going to try to enjoy each moment I have with my daddy!

Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts here. I'm not fretting now, just facing reality and talking about it. You all are wonderful encouragers and such blessings!

That's wonderful news. I'm sure it makes JM's move easier to deal with, knowing that he's improving.

I guess an advantage to being overseas during my dad's surgery (they found a cancerous polyp on his colon) is that I don't feel caught up in the worry. I get my updates in e-mails, not from the doctor himself. (Thankfully they got it and no chemo is needed!)

The very next beat of our heart and the very next breath in our lungs is ALWAYS in God's hands.

It's natural as we age to think more about it but for those of us who know & walk with the Lord there truly is no fear.

I truly believe that Psalms is true when it says "Yeah though I walk through the shadow of death I will fear no evil." I believe Jesus, or Angels, are right there with us at that time.

You've nailed it Pam. Enjoy your Daddy!!!

Pam, we expect our parents to live forever....even if they are in Gods hand!!

You must enjoy every moment as the come up, and learn to be spontaneous!! NO REGRETS....time with loved ones is more important than all our everyday chores, etc. that keep us way too busy!!
WHAT IS IMPORTANT??God's promise for grace for today brings strength we could never fathom!

I'm so thankful to hear this good news about your Daddy!

I think your feelings are totally normal--at least I hope so, because that's how I feel too! : ) My mom is the last parent living for Rande and I...and I notice I get more concerned with each illness or scare that she has. And because I've already lost a parent and other family members, I *know* God's grace will be sufficient to see me through when He decides to call my mom Home. But in my humaness, I am not looking forward to that time, because I like my mom *here*. : )

I don't know if any of that made a lick of sense, but I think you know what I'm saying.

Hugs!

We are blessed to have parents we love so much and who mean so much to our lives and families.

I've had to face the same thoughts after watching my dad with heart surgery and my mom with cancer. I cherish them and I'm thankful for each day we get to enjoy together on this earth.

Love ya,

Hi Pam, just stopped by to see how you are doing (did you know you and I are the same age!)
Glad to hear your Dad is doing well. My Dad is 70 now (I am the eldest child) and I can't imagine life without him or my Mum.
Praise God for His goodness.
