Latest Journal Entry by Patti

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2007 04:09 PM, CDT

Dear Friends and Family,

Just a quick update:

**I had my bloodwork done today and needed the red cell shot. Accessing my port hurt for the first time ever. Usually can't feel it due to the numbing cream and spray. My doctor says it may be infected, so I'll be watching to see if the redness spreads or I get a fever. :-(

**Due to one of the chemo drugs I'm taking, taxotere, I'm getting bad burns on my hands/fingers. Wierd! I'm having to slather on Bag Balm and wear gloves to protect. The nurse said they may even blister and peel. The bright side is: I can't do dishes! :-) hee-hee

**This has been the worst feeling week I've had since starting treatment. The aches have been really bad, horrible sore throat (the nurse gave me some mouth wash, said it's "thrush"), and no energy at all. I am so thankful there is only 1 treatment left!

I told my choir about a song that has been such an encouragment to me recently by Ernie Haase and Signature Sound. I want to share the chorus with you:
If this is what God wants,

If this is what God says;

Then who I am to doubtOr try to figure out this circumstance?

If this is what God chose for me

In all His majesty...Then surely I can trust and lean

On what God says!

Trusting Him,
Patti

Her journal notes have been such a blessing. I will put them into my memory in case I should find myself walking in her shoes. She has set a perfect example of courage and trust in God. Thanks, Pam, connie from Texas

Your friend is brave indeed.

In answer to your question on my Show & Tell. Yes, one wall of my bedroom is painted a true blue and my bed quilt is blue plaids.

Thomas Moran lived from 1837-1926. A great deal of his work was from Yosemite and I am sure this is something he painted while at Yosemite.

I have a couple of ideas that may or may not hurt, but might help Patti.

I am a great believer in old-time women folk remedies....

One of the best things I know for gargling and sore throats, or putting anywhere on our bodies is hydrogen peroxide. I even put it on my toenails---as well as eyes, mouth ( whitens teeth naturally!). It might, just might, be soothing.

Then for energy, I would recommend getting a bottle of organic Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar. After shaking well each time, I would put a half a cap, only a half, in a glass of good purified water and drink it. Do this several times a day. I find it gives me energy, enzymes and vitamins naturally, and is very easy to digest. When I drink too much at once, it gives me too much energy. If you want to be convinced of the health benefits, then google it and see what you find.

God bless you, Patti, and Pam for being such a good and loyal friend.

PAm, we used a Gentian's Violet for thrush in the jungle. It dried up the sores very quickly.

Thanks for the update on your friend.
I will continue to keep her in my prayers

In answere to your question on my blog...yes Derek had hearing problems last year. (go way back in my blog to when I first began posting if you would like to read about it all)
HE ended up seeing a ear/nose/throat specialist.
He had double ear infection, fluid in both ears, nose infection, sinus infection, and allergies.
With a strong antibiotic everything cleared out.
He also used nasonex and sprayed it up both nostrils once a day and still does this everyday. It seems to be working well.
