"...but I have called you friends."

John 15:15 - ""Henceforth I call you not servants for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you."

How would you feel if you got a lettter from the President of the United States, saying, "I want you to be a close friend of mine. You can come to my house any time and talk to me." That would be an exciting day for you!

Did you know that God Himself has said the same thing in His letter to you, the Bible? Read John 15:15 again. God wants you to be His close friend, not just His servant. Do you talk to God as to a friend?

I sometimes dwell so much on the fact that I should serve God, that I forget He is also my greatest friend. WOW! What a friend we have in Jesus! Who better to be friends with? There is none!

Thank God that He wants you to be His friend. Thank Him that you can talk to Him any time.

I know, so many times we get this mentality that Jesus "hired" us. Yes, it's great to have a servant's heart, but it's so much more fulfilling when you get to know and love the one you serve! When you love someone, you want to do things for them as an expression of that love!
What a nice reminder, thanks Aunt Pam!!(missed you yesterday! :P)

I'm so very thankful that He is closer to me than any best friend I could have here on earth. He is there anytime I need Him or just want to talk with HIm. And I desire to be ready to talk with Him anytime He wants to talk to me. And you know what?? He'll never let me down...I"ve had even my best friend in this world let me down...but my Lord NEVER has!!

Very well written! You are exactly correct. He is my very Best Friend and my Father/Creator. Thank you for reminding us about the friendship we have in Jesus.

SOrt of like that old song. "What a friend we have in Jesus"

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit,O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In his arms he'll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there.
He is the best friend we will ever have...a friend forever.

thank you Pam.

Pam: Thanks for the reminder...although we think the Lord is close and He is our friend, we often do not value that relationship as we should!

We know he is a prayer away from us, but also "there is a friend closer than a brother!!"

ANd on those days when you are feeling down and under the weather, He is there all the time!!
And when things are great, He gives you joy!

We often approach God as a "formal relationship"---I am not saying we should neglect His Holiness, and give honor, but that He wants to be more than that!!!

The reminder is soo timely......
