The making of tamales - part one

My brother in law gives his mama a hand, er, should I say an ARM!?
(Mixing the corn masa, shortening, salt, baking powder, chicken broth to an airy texture.)

Even though I do Mexican cooking...after all I was born and raised eating it in NM!!!! I have never attempted tamales but I know they are labor intensive. Don't plan to do them....but love to eat a good home made tamale and it's been a l-o-n-g time :o( Enjoy!!!!

When I helped make them I thought I got the easy part. This step was already finished. I guess I still got the hard part as they all laughed at me trying to spread the stuff. I'm just not cut out to make mexican food the authentic way. From now on I'll leave it to the pros.
