From Around the House

Each year, I purchase a new "Mexican" flavored tree ornament. This was last years. For some reason, I've neglected to get one yet this year. I'll try Hallmark on Monday to see if any are to be found!

The mother of one former Kindergarten student of mine made this Christmas Angel tree topper for me years ago. I rarely use her atop the tree, but find a special place of prominence in the house somewhere for her to watch over us.

I added these resin teddy bear letters to a real wreath and hung over my master bath mirror.

Good news from mom's biopsies. Both came back "NON-MALIGNANT!" We're all so relieved for that Christmas gift! However, she isn't quite out of the woods yet, as yet another mass was discovered from her sonograms taken at Moffitt. She goes in for another sonogram on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
While shopping tonight, I was very disheartened to realize that International Plaza had no Christmas decorations! There was nice Christmas music playing as I walked through the parking garage, but once inside, no major Christmas displays throughout the mall. Some individuals stores had Christmas trees, etc. but a the atmosphere in this upper end mall was a real disappointment to me.
On the other hand, West Shore Plaza was decorated to the nines, and the music played inside the mall! It felt wonderful! My spirits soared.
And then this! After leaving the mall, I stopped by an old favorite Greek place I used to frequent when I lived in Tampa. There were no decorations and no tree, but they were playing all Christmas music. Before leaving, I asked to speak to the manager. I thanked her and expressed my appreciation that the restaurant was at least playing Christmas music. She seemed pleased I had a positive comment for her rather than a complaint.
Please be sure to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS and speak up! If you're in a restaurant or place of business that seems to remotely be acknowledging Christmas, please let the store owners and employees know just how much you appreciate it. It's time we stopped the reign of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS!

A very Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family, Pam. Have also been busy and a little sick and so am just now getting around to wish some of my dearest blog friends the best of the Season of the Birth of Christ.

Thank you for your wonderful Christmas card and note which I received in Nashville just before I left for DC and NYC to be with my children and new grandbaby, William, who was born very premature and has just gone home to his loving mother and father. Please keep him and us in your prayers. I shall you.

I send love at this most special of time and look forward to staying in touch in 2009. Also a happy belated birthday to your Shane....(my own son---Whit's-- birthday is December 6)!

Your friendship means so much. God bless you and your family.

Love, Jane

That is the greatest ornament I've ever seen!

I didn't get a chance to buy a Mexican ornament yet, which I also do every year, even though I can only wish that I were Mexican.

I may have to enter the craziness of the malls to try and find that one.

And speaking of malls, I thought INternational Mall had a big snow globe disply. We were litteraly just talking about it 10 minutes ago, and deciding when we were going to go check it out..

Oh well, have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Love your Mexican ornament. We gave Beto a pair of dutch shoes when he married Lindsey and told them that if they ever have children we will give each a pair to set out at Christmas to be filled with surprises.

Praying your mom gets an "all clear" report!!!!!

Happy birthday a bit late to Shane. Such a great age. Looks like the party was full of great food and fun!

Love the Mexican ornaments. Hope you find one for this year. We ate at a lovely Italian restaurant at OKC the other day and while it had Christmas lights outside, when we got inside.....nothing.....and they were not playing Christian music. I certainly noticed it but I didn't speak up.....should have!!!! Glad you did.

I agree!! It makes one feel more like shopping where there is a show and sound of Christmas. It just makes you happy.

I love your decorations. I hope you find one for this year.

I am continueing to pray for your Mom. I know that she will be relieved when it is over and a good bill of health is pronounced. Please give her and your Dad a very Merry Christmas for me. connie

That is weird that International Plaza didn't have Christmas decorations up. I best Westshore is beautiful. Its been forever since I've been in that mall.

I'm hearing Merry Christmas a lot more this year. Even at Target and from waiters in restaurants.

Your Christmas decorations are beautiful. I may have to sneek in your master bath and get your Joy bears. Very Cute.
So glad to hear your mom's biopsies were good news.
Merry Christmas,

Joy

I hate to say it, but this has got to be one of the most depressing Christmas seasons I have ever witnessed, not because of the economy, but because everything seems to be about gays and those who have a bug up their butts over Christmas.

Then of course you have so many people who decorate their homes to the nth degree, but could care less for the true meaning of Christmas.

I love your Christmas decorations, especially the angel and the Mexican Mouse.

God bless you all and have a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.

I was shopping last week and the clerk at a Bath and Body Works store said Merry Christmas to me...even before I said it, so some do still use the phrase.
